Brand History

Cartier, founded in 1847 by Louis-François Cartier in Paris, began as a small jewelry workshop that quickly gained a reputation for excellence and luxury. By the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Cartier had established itself as the “Jeweler of Kings” with its exquisite creations that attracted royal and elite clientele worldwide. Known for iconic designs such as the “Tutti Frutti” style, the Santos de Cartier wristwatch, and the Love bracelet, Cartier expanded its repertoire to include a wide range of high-end jewelry, timepieces, and accessories. The brand’s eyewear line, introduced later, continues the tradition of exceptional craftsmanship and sophisticated design, blending precious materials with timeless elegance. Today, Cartier Eyewear remains a symbol of opulence and refinement, celebrated for its heritage, innovation, and influence in the world of luxury goods.

Sertissage Process

The craftsmanship to set each diamond into the frame is called sertissage. Each diamond is set by hand by dedicated artisans into the appropriate seat which is previously created.

The final hold is provided by creating gold griffes around the diamonds that have both and aesthetical and functional purpose, keeping the precious stones firmly in place.
