If you’ve recently had an eye exam at one of the independent eye doctors next to a Costco Optical in San Jose, San Mateo, San Ramon, or Juneau and don’t quite find something you like or that fits you in their Optical Center, you don’t need to buy your eyewear there. You can bring your valid prescription to any of our Optical Illusions locations in San Jose, San Mateo, San Ramon, or Juneau, and our expert opticians will help you find the perfect pair of glasses to match your vision, style, and lifestyle.
While many of the independent optometrists next to Costco Optical accept vision insurance coverage for their eye exam services, the optical is often out-of-network for most vision insurances. One such vision insurance is VSP Vision, the top vision insurance in the United States, in which Optical Illusions is an in-network VSP Provider and a Platinum-level VSP Premier Edge practice. This means Costco members with VSP Vision or EyeMed can maximize their vision benefits and get the most out of their eye care experience at one of Optical Illusions’ four practice locations.

How to Use Your
Costco Prescription
- Make sure your prescription is current and within 2 years of your most recent eye exam
- Bring a printed or digital copy of your prescription to your appointment
- Visit any of our Optical Illusions locations and speak with one of our opticians for a complimentary frame styling and lens consultation
If you don’t have a copy of your prescription, you can request it directly from your independent optometrist next to Costco Optical, and they’re required to provide it to you by law.
