Can I schedule an appointment for an eye exam?
We are open to seeing new patients and happy to see our returning patients again annually. The easiest way for schedule an eye exam is to use our online scheduler:

Why are Retinal Screenings Required?
Our eye doctors require that all patients have a Retinal and OCT screening using an Optos device for all comprehensive eye exams. This standard of care is to ensure that all acute and chronic eye conditions are diagnosed, documented, and treated at the highest level.
While it may not seem like it’s a big deal, these photos have been able to help eye doctors find rare and dangerous findings and have even find life-threatening conditions.
This imaging is sometimes fully or partially covered by vision insurance with a copay.

If you don’t see your insurance provider listed above, please message our offices, and we’d be happy to look into it more. Insurance plans can change frequently, so if you have specific questions about your plan and what your insurance covers, we encourage you to contact your HR Manager or insurance provider member support line directly.
For any out-of-network requests, we are happy to provide itemized receipts for you to submit for reimbursement.

How often should I come in for an eye exam?
The American Optometric Association recommends that children be seen twice before they start school and then every 1-2 years after that, or sooner depending on their refractive status and eye health.
For adults, annual eye exams are recommended even if you are seeing well since some eye conditions often do not have symptoms at the early stages. If you have any systemic conditions like hypertension, high cholesterol, or diabetes, it is very important that you have an eye exam every year to evaluate your eye health.
After the age of 65, you become exponentially more likely to develop conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. It is imperative that you get an eye exam every year at this stage.
Do you see kids in your practices?
Optical Illusions is able to see children as young as 6 months old. Our pediatric services are designed to detect early signs of amblyopia (or lazy eye) and to ensure that kid’s eyes are developing properly.

My eyes are red and hurt. Can I be seen immediately?
Optical Illusions offers same day emergency services at all of our practice locations. Our expert team will quickly triage your condition over the phone and determine if you would be best seen at our clinic, or if you need to be seen by a specialist, or if you should go to the nearest urgent care or emergency room.
Our clinics have an after-hours phone service in case you have symptoms that occur at night or weekends. Our on-call doctor will reach out promptly by phone to help triage your condition.
Are my glasses ready yet?
The eyewear made at Optical Illusions are high-quality and custom-made. Our freeform digital lenses are crafted carefully and require time to be made well. We kind ask that you patiently wait for 2-3 weeks for the glasses to be properly made, dependent on which materials and add-ons you selected with the optician.
If an pair of glasses is expected to take longer than 2 weeks, we will call or text you with updates.
Can I order glasses or contacts from you if I got a prescription somewhere else?
We accept all outside glasses and contact lens prescriptions from any other licensed ophthalmologist or optometrist. Glasses prescriptions are valid for two years from the date of the eye exam. Contact lens prescriptions are valid for one year from the date of the eye exam.
