SANTA CLARA, CA – Dr. Katalina Yandell has been named the Young Optometrist of the Year 2023 by the Santa Clara County Optometric Society (SCCOS). Dr. Katalina Yandell is the immediate past President of SCCOS where she led the society as the Society of the Year 2022 and Best Society Website in 2021. She practices as an Optometric Physician in AK and Doctor of Optometry in CA, delivering Dry Eye Aesthetics and Myopia Management services at her award-winning practices, Optical Illusions: An Optometric Practice, are located in San Mateo, San Jose, San Ramon, and Juneau.
SCCOS Methodology
Santa Clara County Optometric Society utilizes a committee comprised of the previous three recipients of the award who determine the candidate most deserving of the newest Young Optometrist of the Year recognition. The candidate is required to be a Young Optometrist as defined by the American Optometric Association (less than 10 years of practice) and have a strong history of dedication to advocacy and leadership to the profession of Optometry in the community.
Santa Clara County Optometric Society is a subdivision of the California Optometric Association (COA). Over the years, the society’s influence has contributed to increasing scope of practice and promoting the profession at the local and state level. SCCOS has been privileged to have great leadership within the Society, and many have gone on to become presidents of the COA. In addition to political advocacy, SCCOS members proudly serve the community in performing school vision screenings, volunteering at local health fairs, and providing education to the public about eye health and vision
