The Best of Juneau is a community vote-based contest focusing on and highlighting the best businesses, companies, groups, locations, items and services in Juneau, Alaska. Lifetime Eyecare by Optical Illusions’ recognition in the 2024 Best of Juneau program is a reflection of their exceptional qualities as a prominent clinic in the community.
Lifetime Eyecare by Optical Illusions has previous won this award in 2024 (Gold Winner), 2023 (Gold Winner) and 2022 (Silver Winner).
Bringing Juneau into the Future
First opened and operated in 1966 by Dr. Box, the clinic in the Professional Plaza has always provided high level primary eye care for adults and children. More recently, additional advanced eyecare services were included like Dry Eye Therapy, Myopia Management, and Ocular Disease Diagnosis & Treatment. The practice’s compassionate approach to patient care, combined with their commitment to staying at the forefront of advancements in eye care technology, has earned them the trust and admiration of their patients.
In 2021, Lifetime Eyecare joined Optical Illusions: An Optometric Practice, owned and operated by Dr. William To. His goal was to continue the legacy and outstanding eyecare that Dr. Bennett and Dr. Box provided for the Juneau community over the last 60 years. Even since the days of Dr. Box, Lifetime Eyecare had always been known as the most modern optometry practice in the area with the most state-of-the-art technology.
In 2023, the clinic began providing Hybrid Telehealth eye exams in their clinic to improve access to care in Juneau and the surrounding area. This technology has allowed long wait times to all but disappear. Juneau patients can also now be seen by world-renowned ophthalmologists and optometrists from all over the world without needing to traveling thousands of miles anymore.
To date, Lifetime Eyecare by Optical Illusions has seen over 5000 patients in the Juneau with their RDx hybrid telehealth technology.
What is the Best of Juneau Program?
Supporting local businesses is more important than ever. For more than a decade Juneauites have been encouraged to “Look Local First” as a way of helping the community thrive and remain the special place it is. Juneau’s businesses are owned, managed and staffed by neighbors and friends in the community, and they in turn support the community through sponsorships of sports, the arts, charities, non-profits and community events. This program was created to recognize the efforts of these local businesses and celebrate those that go above and beyond and are truly the community’s choice as the ‘Best of Juneau’.
Nominations were provided by the community with the names of nominated businesses, people and places in each of the 150+ categories were finalized and made up the official Best of Juneau voting ballot. At that point the community was asked to vote on one choice in each category. Per the program guidelines, voters were allowed to nominate without limits and once voting period has begun, one vote per 24 hours was allowed.
